At 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu St. Augustine, we believe a strong gym culture starts with trust, respect, and accountability.
Jiu Jitsu should challenge people physically and mentally — never make them feel unsafe, disrespected, or unheard.
These values and policies exist to protect our community and clearly define the standards we hold ourselves to — especially when it comes to women and children.
Respect First
Every person deserves to feel welcome and respected, regardless of gender, age, race, background, beliefs, or experience level. Disrespectful behavior has no place on or off the mats.
Safety Over Ego
Training should build confidence, not fear. We prioritize physical safety, emotional safety, and psychological safety above winning, status, or pride.
Accountability at Every Level
No rank, title, or competitive success places anyone above these standards. Coaches, staff, and students are all held to the same expectations.
Protect Women & Children
Women and children deserve training environments where boundaries are clear, concerns are taken seriously, and voices are respected without hesitation or retaliation.
Growth Through Integrity
Jiu Jitsu is about growth — not just in skill, but in character. We expect our members to train with integrity, humility, and awareness of how their actions affect others.
This Code of Conduct applies to all members, coaches, staff, and visitors at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu St. Augustine.
General Conduct
• Treat everyone with respect at all times.
• Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Sexual comments, jokes, advances, or behavior that makes others uncomfortable are not acceptable.
• Grooming behavior, favoritism, or boundary-crossing — especially involving minors — is strictly prohibited.
Training Standards
• Train with control and awareness of your partner’s safety.
• All tap-outs must be honored immediately.
• No bullying, retaliation, or aggressive “lesson teaching.”
• Gym rules, hygiene standards, and attire policies must be followed consistently.
Women’s Safety & Inclusion
• Women have the right to train without pressure, unwanted attention, or dismissal of concerns.
• Training partners must respect personal and physical boundaries at all times.
• Any concern raised by a female member will be handled discreetly, professionally, and without bias.
Children & Youth Protection
• Adults may not be alone with a child in private areas without parental knowledge or consent.
• Physical contact must always be appropriate, instructional, and observable.
• No private messaging, gifts, or special treatment between adults and minors.
• Parents are welcome to observe kids classes at any time.
Reporting & Accountability
• Members are encouraged to speak up if something feels unsafe or inappropriate.
• Reports can be made directly to the head coach/owner.
• All reports are handled confidentially and taken seriously.
• Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from the gym.
Rank, experience, or competitive success do not excuse misconduct.
The safety of children is a top priority at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu St. Augustine.
We are committed to:
• Clear supervision during all kids classes
• Transparent communication with parents
• Firm boundaries between adults and minors
• Immediate action when concerns are raised
If a child or parent ever feels uncomfortable, uncertain, or concerned, we want to know. Speaking up is encouraged and protected.
Our goal is to create a training environment where everyone — especially women and children — feels safe, respected, and supported.
These standards are not optional. They define who we are and the community we are building.
